Default 92 Civic OBD question

thanks for helping..

i have a 92 eg with a OBDI LS ECU,LS OBDI wire harness, i just received a obdII 97 ls motor.

My question is, the only difference i found on the OBD I and OBD 2 harness was the injector plugs where different, and the sensor that is ontop of the manifold(that goes to the evap can)was square obd-II ans round obd-I. all the other sensors plugged in. on the obd-I manifold there is a sensor that has two vac lines one to manifold and then to evap can. it has a little black top/cap thing that will pop off..i feel like a larry but i cant find the name of the thing ..anyhwhere.

.if i run the obdII manifold can i convert that sensor? i tested both harnesses clips p-11(OBD1) and p12(OBD2) i believe that was the num of the female plug under the clutch resevor.. the pins where the same on both LS obd-1 & 2. the wire color is even the same.i obvioulsy can just convert the manifold but i want to see if this is possible.save a few dollers... im about a week out from completing the project, and wanted to make sure this works. or if it has been done.

the dizzy connectors are different too i think (at least on d-series). odb1 is 2 connectors and obd2 is 1 large connector

Also the alternator plug on the OBD2 engine won't match up to your OBD1 engine harness. you'll either need an OBD1 B alternator, or take the casing off of your old D alternator and the B alternator and simply swap voltage regulators (that's where the engine harness plugs in) and then it will plug in.

You know you can make the swap literally 100% plug and play by using any 96-00 Integra 5 speed enginen harness, right? The 96-01 Integra engine harness plugs right into your Civic's shock tower harness, and this method allows you to keep all the newer "OBD2" sensors/plugs such as dizzy, alternator, injectors, etc.

BTW who needs evap crap?

I have no idea how smog rules affect what OBD you can legally run in your car.

For 49 states I'd say convert what you can to OBD1 by means of swapping plugs, parts, etc. on the engine and then run an OBD1 LS P75 ECU (or PR4 if you cannot find a P75) BUT it might be different in California.

I recall reading some time ago that if you had an OBD2 engine you had to keep it OBD2 to be smog legal, but again I'm from GA, not CA, so I have never really read up on it.

If you do not like the site please leave. We're not here to read your gay bashing posts - we are here to discuss Hondas, and that's exactly what I, and others, were trying to do before you decided to post gay bashing remarks.

I will gladly assist you on your way out if you cannot control yourself.

BTW I consider myself a conservative person. I am not gay, but I don't feel that's it important to crucify gay people, especially on a CAR forum.

It's a CKF sensor wire, and it is only read by an OBD2 ECU. It's important if you have to run OBD2, but if the car is to remain OBD1 it is not used.

I have no idea how smog laws affect your ECU choices.

Have you tried to do an H-T search and type in "California smog" or "BAR" , or "REF" etc. etc.?
