Default IS IT TIME FOR TUNE UP?

I have a 95 del sol and been driving and it feels like its time for a nice tune up to get her running smooth again. I honestly never done a tune up before so if anyone could be kind enough to write a list up of basic tune up needs that would be COOL! Also is it recommended to upgrade or keep it OEM. I heard OEM works best. THANKS!!

Assuming you've never touched the car as far as maintainance, you should do air/fuel filter, plugs, wires, check distributor, check battery, coolant, check hoses, oil and filter, new drain bolt with washer, transmission fluid, brake fluid, check rotors and pads and shoes, bulbs, belts, timing belt, water pump. At least check all these items and replace anything that is cheap to do. Thats all I can think of right now.

pfft.

Tune ups are overrated.

Stock honda motors will (WILL) last AT LEAST 300k miles without a damn oil change or new plugs.

? , No I don't believe any Honda Motor nor other motor will last without an oil change for 300k or more miles and plugs too. I think the rings will go before an oil change is due at 300k

Change that fuel filter, get sum NGK plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Check the PCV.
Thats a good start, and can all be had for less than $100

Wooow, 300,000 Miles no oil changes? I wanna see that.

So are you saying you bought this car with 98k miles and been driving it to 104k miles without a single oil change or anything???

if so your crazy, and when you buy some oil buy a Motor flush and put it into your car with the old nasty 8,000 mile oil and let the car idle for 10 minutes then rev the hell outa it and drain and change the oil this will get most the sludge out.

Better yet, Use SeaFoam its the same thing but will clean WAAAAY better and you put it into your oil gas and Pcv and you will have a sparkly engine that idles waaay better.

WOW!!! 205 posts and cant even change spark plugs, wires, oil, or any of that other stuff...it is cake. i was doin tune ups when i was about 10. and why the hell would changing brake rotors be considered a part of a tune up?

Oil was changed with synthetic at 101k. but thats about it. I dont consider upgrading rotors as part of my tune up but i need new brake pads and wanted to know if they will warp my rotors cuz i wanna go autocrossing. Where can I buy some of this seafoam stuff? I want this bitch running new. Thanks for all your intel guys and keep the trash talk OUT OF MY THREAD!

Thanks.

In during trollfest!

Seafoam is at some Walmarts, and all AutoZones. Costs a bit less than $7 a can depending on state/market.

Longest I've seen an engine last without an oil change was approximately 25k miles. At work we get rental vehicles, fleet vehicles, etc. from the dealer auctions to sell on lot as used cars. I believe we had one Town and Country in that had the factory installed oil filter still on it, meaning that it probably had not had the oil changed in it unless it was drained and filled without replacing the filter. IIRC we ended up replacing that engine after it had siezed up.
