Shock absorber question
Okay, I have the Ground Control coilovers on my car, driving on stock shocks (
i know i know). BUT I'm going to fix the problem soon, probably within a couple weeks. I was wondering, what shocks would you guys recommend? I've heard that Koni yellows are the ****, so I'll probably go with those. BTW, car is lowered about 2.5". The ride height is the main reason that I'm asking about shocks, because I want one that will work well when it's that much lower than stock. Thanks
p.s. I did the search, and I found some semi-useful information, but I just wanted to pull it all together and make sure I got it right

Well, price is an object, but not enough to keep me from getting the Koni's. I guess my question still is, will this work with a 2.5" drop?? My stock shocks are about an inch from the bump-stop, and it's been getting on my nerves, plus I'm tired of getting destroyed in CSP auto-x (going to try STS next time; maybe I won't get destroyed as bad), and everybody says that lowered cars have horrible rides until they put in appropriate shocks...will these Koni yellows work well enough to give me a tolerable ride?
Thanks for the info Dark Lotus

i have koni yellows with a 2.5 inch drop on neuspeed race spings....the ride is pretty harsh but i got used to it...handles very well...i've been using this set up for 4 months now
I roll Konis and GC's with a 2" drop maybe a bit more.
never hit the bumpstops (trimmed in half) but my car is light as fawk.. 2000 lbs.
autox is wicked fun, so are trackschools.
daily driving is wicked too.

I'm running the original GC rates right now (350/250 i think), but when I swap shocks, I have a set of Eibach Racing Sports coilover springs (fit on GC's, Weapon R's etc etc) that are 550/450...maybe even more fun in Auto-X like that
So if I get the Koni shocks, i will have to trim the bump stop?

I thought GC std. rates were 250/250. But I could be wrong.
BTW- You have a camber kit for that big of a drop?

You might be right about the spring rates...I never personally checked the spring rate out myself, but I think I heard that online somewhere. And yes, the camber is finally fixed, thanks to a Progress camber kit. When I put the kit on, I also raised the car a half-inch (used to be slammed 3")...I killed a set of Toyo T1-S tires in about 4 months when I had 3-4deg of camber. Alignment is a big deal! Also, the car is much much easier to drive now that it is aligned. Handling hasn't changed much, but steering feel is 300% better, wheel is much easier to turn. Anyways, Konis are gonna be ordered in 2-3 weeks...getting a new BodyKits NW CF hood for $375 first
Was the camber kit pretty easy to install? Did you have it re-aligned after you installed it? Just wondered cuz I'm gonna be adjusting my GC's lower.
