I have a 255 walbro fuel pump and a 12:1 fmu on my d16y8 motor pushing 8psi.

Its not tuned but it grabs in every gear. i spin the tires in 2nd. Well we went out to race the other night and we were a little under half a tank. probably had 3gallons left. And when we shifted into 2nd it would just stop going like it bogged. So we are racing this wrx from a roll because it was [freak]ing up going into 2nd and we are at 4th gear and let off and the car automatically turns off and had a little problem turning back on. Other than that the car drives fine.... So we put a full tank of gas in and now it will catch 2nd and just haul *** again.

Question is. Could it be from the car moving forward that the fuel pump isnt getting enough fuel from the fuel tank to send to the front? does this happen to alot of you guys too?

IMO 255 might be a little overkill...195 should be plenty for 8 lbs....please correct me if im wrong.

I would start at the pump, make sure the ground wire is good/tight. Then i would buy a p28 and get the tuned before you blow your motor. It wouldnt be a horrible idea to get a toga or shimmed oil pump for the y8. Maybe to dsm 450's and a nice fuel rail/fpr setup would benefit you too.

And not to bring you down, but my bolted up y8head/y7block spins the tires in 2nd gear, they are new meaty 15inch tires too. Once you get it tuned it will run better and produce more power than the FMU will every do for you.

 

we have a p28 chipped but for my old setup. just waiting to get injectors and a buddy is gonna burn me a crome chip.

yea im sure all thats tight i remember doing the ground wire with a brand new bolt and tightened it down. i cant think of anything else. it only does it when its at 1/4 of a tank.
