I thought my fuel pump went bad because there was no pump or prime going on through. So I bought a new pump...and to my surprise.. There is absolutely no gas going through. NOT EVEN when I try to force the gas pedal to pump gas into the engine. So I checked all the fuel lines and found that they were dry. I've also checked to see if the fuel pump was priming...it was making a "little clicking" noise that you could barely hear...what the hell is going on? This fuel pump is new! THIS **** SHOULD WORK! Sounds like its working though... **** IM MAD. Any ideas?

my relay was fine the last time ive ran my car. the thing is that i just swapped in a new motor because of the hydrolocking issue that i ran into. the car has been sitting in the garage for a good 2 months now.

J/k... You may have a bad pump, even though it's new. You should test the pump outside of the tank to make sure it's working...

yes i do hear the pump prime. it goes "ppppppppp....pppttttt"

lol thats what i thought too...so i went to the gas station and filled up a gallon in a tank and brought it back home to fill it into my car. still the car doesnt start. all of the lines are dry and the pump is priming wtf! &gt;:[

I MAY not have enough gas thats the only thing i could think of. im mad im going to drive back to the gas station to fill up another gallon.

could a blown fuse may cause this problem? Ive checked all of the fuse in my engine bay and none of them seemed to be blown. i may have to double check on them again. does any body know what fuses control the fuel?

it has to be something electrical and my only guess would be a realy or fuse get a test light and test your heart out. It would also be helpful to know what kind of car and motor.

i believe i was the first person to tell you to check ur relay, go to the nearest parts store and buy a fuel pump relay and try it out, look online to find where it is exactly then replace that should work from what i am understanding but if it doesnt just return it and get ur $ back and try again, let em know how the relay works then ill try some more advice.

check the main replay. Did you bend any lines.

Also what do you mean you get no fuel. Like you took off the line and seen no fuel coming. Or you car doesn't start up (got spark and seems like everything else is right besides fuel).

If you get fuel flowing check to see if you are getting injector pulse.

To rule out a kinked/clogged line, is it possible to syphon gas to the fuel rail/fpr by sucking on the hose? Worst that'll happen is it DOES come through and it starts syphoning and you have to rush to re-connect it before you spill too much gas. Might try this AFTER the electrical stuff, the electrical might be a little cleaner.

it won't pump too much fuel so don't worry about it. Determine what's wrong before you start going into little time consuming crap like electrical.

At least checking the electrical is free (except for the time). We did a swap on my friend's car and we tried a few different things (same problem as the thread starter) and it turned out to be the main relay. It's a good possibility.

finally fixed the problem, turned out to be a short in the wire between the 15A fuse to the fuel pump itself.
