its that time of year again. MY TYPE R NEEDS TO GO ON A DIET
well my car is apart since its winter and im thinking it could lose a little weight. my friends have there R down to under 2000. currently i was down to 2380 full interior. but i want to loose another maybe 200 and keep it complete looking without hacking **** and making it sound more like a tin can.
where are some good places to loosing weight yet keep it complete looking.
so far i have no spare tire or jack
no trunk carpet
no AC
no emissions system
and some misc brackets that arent used were removed when i added braided hoses
i think im going to keep my abs. how much does it weigh and how hard to remove it correctly as well as power steering.

Unless your doing some serious road racing championship racing series, I really don't think you need to loose wieght.
keep the ABS. P/S your choice, But I'd keep it.
Some heavy items, SRS/airbags , back seats, speakers, radio. stock intake is heavy compared to aem cai, FW, wheels, stock suspension... So many areas to save weight.
All about $ and effort.

I saw a post a long time back that apparently there is a large metal bar behind the dash board on the passenger side, you have to take out your glove box, it weighs about 20 something pounds.. not sure what it was or if it can even be done..
you can invest in a jdm dash tray and eliminate your passanger side airbag, aftermarket steering wheel for the driver side.. probably about 15 pound for each airbag.... its all about getting creative.

x2 and if you're driving it on the streets, safety (i.e. SRS) is more important than being lighter imo

I agree.
Also there is that big hunk of medal just under the front of the bag seat.

These were added for side impact safety for the '98 model year. I'd keep them unless you have a roll bar.
There are miscellaneous plates under the dash. I've removed unused brackets, etc from the engine bay, and the heat plates along the exhaust tunnel.
If you want to spend a little (and keep AC), then change out the iron a/c mount to the jdm aluminum one.
