is it possible for a TPS to be going out or bad w/ out setting out throwing a code?, and what can you expect from a bad tps

 

When my TPS went bad, It did not throw a code. It also wouldn't allow me to rev over 3k rpm.

 

i've never seen one go bad now that i think of it but usually they break during an engine install etc... try unpluging it and see if it makes any difference.. i know that when they are not calibrated correctly then it will run funky.. mine was off and it only ran until about 75% throttle and bogged terribly at full throttle.. then i possitioned it correctly and it was fixed..

there is a CEL code for a TPS but it didnt throw the code when mine was in the wrong position..

i would assume that it wouldnt even start

 

im throwing a tps code and my car drives fine .. just when the engine is cold it wont idle .. esp when its cold it will shut off if I dont give it a little gas.. like litterally when you start it the tach doesnt budge lol

 

is there a right up to adjust it? when its out of wack did the car feel like its constantly climbing a hill>?
