Default What's a good bass 6.5 speaker? (non component)

Right now I have Pioneer TS-A1672R.

http://www.crutchfield.com/App...wAllt

My speakers are amped with a separate bridged amp. The Pioneers I have aren't really to my liking. They hit mids and highs very well. They don't however hit lows well at all. Which is mostly where I listen to my music most. Also the speakers don't have a lot of bass. They're more of a SQ speaker for rock or techno.

I'm doing research but I can't narrow down any speaker that hits bass very well. My friend has JLs which hit very nice but they don't make it for my speaker size.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Opps, mean't to say they don't make the TR650 in 6.5? But looking at the website they do. Thanks! Now I can look into it a little bit. I didn't even think to look at their website

Eclipse SP6510.
To get good bass from a speaker it is critical that they are installed properly. 94

That is a great speaker, not too pricy as well. I have also had great luck with Focal 165 CA1s, a little more $$ than the Eclipse thou, but great mid-bass.

As fcm mentioned, installation is critical to a good sounding system.

Hahaha, what is it with you and Eclipse speakers?

I bought a pair. They have a strong looking cone material and backing. I should be installing them in a few weeks. I believe him that they are very good speakers; cannot wait to test them.

I don't doubt that they're good speakers, but I can always count on fcm's primary recommendation to be Eclipse. So I was pokin' a little fun.

Hilarious. But yeah we've all noticed that. The shitty part about Eclipse is that there are not a lot of retailers for them. So if these don't work I'm going to return these to fcm. Ha

Send them.

If installed and powered properly you will be impressed, IMO they are the best sounding speaker at that price point and damn near bulletproof

The Eclipse 6.5" 2way coax I have now are over 10 years old and still work, they are driven by an Alpine HUs internal amp, the system was designed, [free speakers free Alpine HU] to showcase what can be done without subs or off-board amps, the SQ is very good, imaging and staging is just about perfect, the SQ has a lot to do with the Alpine HU, [CDA-7893] and the time and effort spent installing the speakers, but the speakers still have to be good.
Now that Eclipse has gone from the hard dome tweeter, [SP6500] to the soft "soft silk" dome, [SP6510] it's time to upgrade.
With the results I had with the Eclipse 2ways why would I go with, [or recommend] anything else?
Yea a set of Hertz Mille MLK 2 and an audison amp would be nice, probably sound a lot better too, but the diff. in price will get the custom inter-cooler I need, and then some. 94

JL, JL, JL. JL has several different series of 6.5 co-axial speakers. I have the 6.5 xr-cxi's and vr 6x9's powered by a 300/4 jl amp and love all of it. the c5 are highly recommended. The zr's are awesome but they are components. But if you're looking for exceptional bass your just not gonna find it in a 6.5 co-axial.
