gas leak from crack on pipe, but having problems with jbweld
I was putting a new fuel pump on my 88 hatch. It primes and starts and runs fine. But when I was working underneath I accidently turned one of the three skinny pipes and it must have cracked. I had to cut apart part of the rubber on the pipe to find the crack. I will admit I didnt know where the crack was at first so thats probably why I was having problems duh...
But is there another product that is supposed to be better than jbweld, my neighbor across the street gave me about half a stick of it. He said its pretty good, but Ive never used it before. How long does it usually take to cure and harden? And please don't ask about why I put a new fuel pump on. Thanks

another product that is better then jb weld is called liquid steel. it drys so hard you can run a grinder on it, and it will make sparks lol
i think jb weld takes 24 hours to cure all the way.

Yeah cause my neighbor across the street works on muscle cars and was saying its really good. But I don't like that its kind of clay like. You know? Plus its a really small crack and I need it fixed like soon. Ill check out the liquid steel. What kind of consisitency is that? Is it like goo or like clay?
any wat to get a pic of the crack? jb weld also comes in tubes and can use it in like a few hours
I could get a pic but its a really small crack. When I prime the pump I can see where its spraying out. I had to look under the back seat and its right under where that rubber seal is for the three pipes. If that makes sense
But I think Ill look for the jbweld in the two tubes that you just mix together instead of the clay stuff.

Just as a side note, wasn't really too hard putting in the new pump Im glad I did it myself. I actually just referred to the pump install that was done in the 7th issue of Project Car mag. That was a good issue by the way

Actually, what I ended up doing was taking a little dremel cutter I have and cut about 3 inches of the piping and connected the two ends with some hose and two hose clamps. I was a little aprehensive at first, since its a fuel line and all, cause fuel catches fire. But it turned out fine. No more leak, seems to be running ok.
is it the pressure, return or vent line? if it's the pressure line you should use 2 clamps at each end of the hose
Not sure, if you go and lift up the back seat, out of the three its the one on the farthest right. Seems to be holding up, no gas smell or leakage.
