i smell gas in my car... and not from me.
sometimes the smell of gas fills my car and even gets strong enough to make me dizzy. could it be because i dont have the toolbox or the rear seat? I checked the gas tank and the fuel filter, got nothing...
lol nice title
As foir the gas smell I would check all lines also. Do you smell it after you put gas in the car or just when ever?
also is it a gas smell or exhaust?

had the same problem looked all around couldnd find anything wrong with the lines or neck. i took the tank out and someone had drilled a hole in the tank from inside.

It could also be a hole (either a punctured hole or rusted out hole) on top of your gas tank that's causing your gas smell. If it's on top you'll not be able to see it unless you drop your tank and verify for sure.
One thing I suggest you do is if your still have your rear cargo hatch thing, take it off and look at the sheet metal about your tank for any obvious screw holes...this would give you a better idea if someone drilled into it at all. If there's no drill holes on top of the tank, then you'll at least rule that possibility out of the way.
Here's my thread on what I did to fix it:

like other people said check around the filler neck I had the same problem, it was a quick fix, i also replaced the gas cap with a new one
In lots of cases (especially if its not bone-stock or new) you will have a slight leak around a engine bay fitting. The aluminum crush washers suck when reused. You can also have slight leaks with old/reused o-rings, since they see >40psi for long periods (working pump check-valve = hours/days at that pressure).
BTW it takes a VERY SMALL amount of gas to make a big stink. I had a *tiny* leak on the fuel rail (barely moist), and it stunk up the whole car w/windows closed & vents recirculated.
