shifter moves every time gas is released or pressed...bad motor mounts?
so my buddy's em1...everytime you press on the gas and release it, the whole shifter moves like forward or backward (by a little). my guess is that its bad tranny motor mounts.
does anyone else know what other possibilities it could be?
they are stock motor mounts and has over 120-130k miles on the motor.
also, is it hard to swap out the old motor mounts? all it is, is just holding the whole motor up with a jack and just do each motor mount, one by one right? unscrewing each bolt and taking off the old mount, then putting in the new one?
thanks,
Peter L.

the back motor mount is really bad if that is happening. it makes the motor rock back and forth, so change it before you get grindings gears
if its only moving a little bit then thats perfectly normal. if he's noticed a progression and its now moving a lot more than it used to, then perhaps the mount bushings have worn out.

what if the gears are already grinding? does that mean the tranny's going bad?

Mine also does this while I'm in second gear. Its not the normal amount of movement either its excess. Also I know for SURE my motor mounts are toast. So hopefully with the swap I'll get this fixed.

i can understand it if the shifter was shaky and loose. but my friends issue is that, it seems like the whole thing moves, as if it was the tranny.
