Yeah x2 ^^^
The motor is most likely swaying, it could be swaying back and fourth much more under load while driving too. Replacement stock motor mounts aren't expensive at all if it even looks worn just replace it.

My ej2 did that for a bit, found the "front engine mount" smashed and some bolts loose on the firewall mount, visably when the hood was open the motor didnt really move but under a load it made all the diff, to check the mounts jack up the front put it on stands and put the car in first, have a buddy let off the clutch and bring the rpms up while you watch the motor, see if it doesnt move then

No one really asked how much its moving around.
But yeah, your shifter is connected to the transmission through the linkage. So when the motor moves on its mounts the shifter, in turn, has to move as well. If your motor isn't moving around all crazy and your mounts look to be in good shape (specifically check the torque mounts on the bottom of the frame rails), I wouldn't worry about it. They did it a bit when they were new.

Only other thing i would do if u want is swap the shifter bushings with enery suspension bushings for added stability, other than that it sounds ok

Replace your shifter bushings, and if your shifter is still moving with revs, get some motor mount inserts. They aren't the most optimal choice, but they're cheaper, and easy to install.

If the motor mounts are blown, chances are the shift linkage bushings are also fried. We're talking about old cars here - rubber doesn't hold up to age.

I dont know how bushings in the east coast work out but when I replaced my 10 year old bushings with those Energy Suspension bushings, I noticed absolutely nothing. Also, the OE bushings were perfect.
Oh, I did notice something. More vibrations on the shifter from the engine.
