Default ZC-T or b16a/LsVtec N/A?

I have a 91 EF and it has rod knock. I bought a dohc zc swap that was built for boost i can throw in it. Is it worth building a ZC/Turbo over a B16a/LsVtec N/A? Anybody with either of these swap I'd like your opinions. I'd like around 200-250hp

You can easily make a turbo ZC hit 200-250 hp and it still be reliable but it's going to take some work to do that in a NA LS/Vtec. But what will be the purpose of the car? Daily, weekend warrior or track car?

What do you want to do with the car?

Not a daily for sure. Weekend fun car with some track day time. Reliability is most important.

If money is a issue, I say go turbo ZC. But I would spend some time in the All-Motor and Forced Induction threads to check out other builds so you can get a better idea of both set up's.

Track?

Autocross? Road Race/HPDE? Drag?

Specifics really help.

The B16A will not compete with either of the other setups. No way, no how, unless you boost it too.

If you are going to do Auto-X/HPDE then I would stick with NA. Boost is fun but on track for the amount of hard running it will do they tend to have more issues and extreme heat build up. I'm not saying not to do it but just keep that in mind.

To what extant???? How much do you think you have to put into a LS/Vtec to get in the 200 whp area? Now how much do you think it would take to get 200 whp out of a turbo ZC? Not much... I'm not saying a turbo zc is better then a build NA LS/Vtec. I'm just saying if money is a issue and your not a experienced builder, then a turbo zc is a much simpler, cheaper way to go.

200-250 goals with a built ZC laying around?
Yet you still have to ask?

As others have said, my advice is to get the turbo ZC, especially if it's already built for boost.

Easier to maintain IMO and waaaaay less expensive.

Yeah, I'd be around here more often, but I don't own an EF anymore. The 92-00 forum scares me.

New Mods FTL, sorry Max.

Toad FTW.

3-4 Years of procrastination, plus LS block, head works, ITR or CTR pistons, Cams, and tuning out the butt. Sigh I know from experience. Yet I still don't have it in.

Run Itrs or better yet p30s.

Ctrs + pump gas lsvtec = no timing.
Ctrs are great in b16s or LS all motors.
I'm about to run pro2s.. someone is rather cross I bought cams instead of a neckless she was eyeing >_>

LOL. Is my hp goal too low? Well you never know when someone says "built". In TX that means it was built until I blew it up. Hopefully I got a steal. Picked it up for 500.

If you want 200-250 that's great, good for you.

What I mean is search, 200-250 out of a built ZC is not hard at all.

There are 100s of turbo twin cam ZCs just search it's really not that hard.

FYI you shouldn't buy things until you know what built means, a lot of stupid people build motors and cobble them together with junk parts.

I get what your trying to say. Its just I haven't found too many people that still use this motor, most move on to B-Series. Since prices of them have gone down quite a bit since I had my last CRX in 2000. Just getting some opinions of people that run, or have run these setups in their cars. Thanks for the FYI but I believe I covered that in the last post.
