Default b16a vs ZC Dohc ( turbo )

hey i currently have a ZC DOhc turbo with a T25 Turbo and wondering
does the b16a1 have a stronger box? internals?
can motor handle more power and do you have to remove the vtec mecanisme fot turbo application to funtion properly or can you have vtec + turbo and car run nicely?
help much appreciated

thanks

mike

Mike,

The b16a will make a lot more HP per PSI than your current ZC setup. However I would definitely upgrade to a larger turbo, as the T25's power would fall off too fast for the b16a's high revving capabilities. Internal strength, b16a rods are beefier and the stroke is a lot shorter, so the engine will last longer by nature.

VTEC and Boost actually work very well together, no reason to change anything there.

Good luck.

thanks

i have every thing off my zc to turbo the b16a1 but i dont know if my "link" engine managment system wil support vtec as im using the link complete factory replacment.
do you know much about them?
you think T25 a bit small? something like Td05 maybe?
im looking into bigger turbo for my b16a1 setup also .

Mike,

Link should work fine with the b16a but probably doesn't offer any vtec engaugement adjustment. I know a few people using Link with their vtec engines, but they might be using Link Plus.

I would look into a 18g or possibly a T3/T4 .60/.63 54-57 trim for the b16a. T25 will make its peak power around 6500-7000 on a b16a, which is way too low.

yay
just checked out link web site my link does support vtec control thats good
i just brought a b6a1 motor complete with box computer etc...and cv,s for $750 NZ dollars which is cheap as cool a.
i found some brand new t3/4 turbos for $1700 from a shop in New Zealand should be good azz but ive got another crx i'll do the conversion in .

but in comparing the dohc ZC to the b16a if they were both turbo with a t25 running same boost say 6psi would there but much difference? in power? better 1/4's

thanks

If your only running 6psi who care stick with what you got yes the B16a will make more power, it has 30hp more stock. Your dohc zc will be good for 200whp no problems.. Why did you get banned from nzhondas??

If you only want low power, stay ZC. There is no reason to upgrade when your current engine will support your desired power level.

However, the B-series has a MUCH better transmission.
