Default First Turnover, LS/VTEC Has No Oil Pressure.

This has been about a 3 month process guys and its pretty disheartning when you finally turn the motor over to try and build oil pressure and nothing happens.

The motor is a B18A block with B16A2 head. The oil pump is a brand new ITR. I used to Golden eagle LS/VTEC conversion kit and I have an autometer oil pressure gauge hooked up and oil never even flows into the line..Oil never makes it into the oil filter also.

So im pretty sure this isnt a pump problem, What else could cause me to have no oil pressure? This motor was a full build, No shortcuts.

You need to prime the pump, as you did not when you put it together. Easiest is to pull the allen plug on the pump (intake side) and add oil to the threads, put the plug back in. Also remove the filter and 1/2 - 3/4 fill it put it back on.

I guess I should have clarified a bit more.

The pump was indeed primed and the oil filter had oil in it.

Im wondering if maybe somthing is clogged in the system?

Then you need to take apart and see. Hard to diagnose on the internet. When yuo take out the allen plug and spin the motor do you get oil?

Yep I installed the pickup tube.

This is great stuff, you guys are all ready being a HUGE help to me, You have given me my first two steps in troubleshooting this problem.

The first thing im going to do is check the pickup tube for any clogs or leaks, Because if its sucking any air that would stop the system from pressurizing, or if its clogged thats self explanitory.

The second step, Is what Don said to do...Im going to pull the alan plug out of the oil pump and turn the motor over and see if the pump is pulling oil from the pan.

I understand its hard to help with a problem like this over the internet but you guys are doing just fine in my opinion.

Thank You.

Heres some pictures of what I have worked so hard on.

So I got it started tonight.

I pulled that plug Don and turned it over and oil started coming out, I then threw the plug back in and with the distributor unplugged turned the motor of for like 40 secs...then stopped. Then I hit it again and about 10 secs later the oil gauge was getting oil.

Damn it took alot of turning over to get that pressure built up.

I then hooked the distributor back up, grabbed my laptop and hooked into the hondata and loaded a stock ITR map but changed the injector size to match mine.

I hit datalog and record, turned the key and the bitch fired right up...No hesitation...It idled high...up to 3k, My wideband said A/F of 15.7 which aint all that bad for first startup and the timing was damn close.

Thank you guys very much!!!

If you guys want to see my entire build...I did it on a local forum here:

Enjoy!

I should have mentioned to take the spark plugs out also, the engine spins faster and there is no compression load on the rod bearings.
