Hey all, im building my first d16 motor. Either a z6 or y8 (not sure yet). i just wanted to know what to look out for or any easier methods about putting this motor together. This motor will be built for boost. I will be using 75mm (stock bore) ycp vitara pistons and the custom fjt ibeam rods. I'm new to the building a motor world. I hard from people that i would have to deck the block? whatever that means (please explain). thats all the questions i have for now.

get a z6 bottom end y8 head (mini me swap). The setup i had was je piston and eagle rods and i was running 27 psi. I had the head ported and polished. If you need anymore info you can pm.

 

z6 bottom and y8 head is not mini me btw. d15 bottom and vtec head is a mini me.
vitara pistons and rods is a good cheap boost setup. No need to deck the block. Good to 500whp, but don't push it that far. Go with a z6. y8 has problems with holding oil pressure and causes some bearing issues.
