Default problems with my brakes on 99 si

so i decided to upgrade my brakes on my si since my rears were down to metal to metal ad the rotors were still the factory rotors. i bought the stop tech upgrade package stage 2, which comes with pads, rotors (slotted), steel braided brake lines, and dot 4 brake fluid for a fairly decent price.

to tell the truth i did not like em. quality was kinda shady on the rotors. i would never recommend stop tech after this experience, but i had already installed them by the time i got to the conclusion of not liking them...

anyways
my problem.

1st: the front rotors seem to be hitting the shield thing on the back of the brakes thats supposed to keep water or dirt from splashing on the brakes from behind, i think. so i hear it rubbing while rolling and its annoying, contemplating removing the shields from the fronts.

2nd: i am not sure if its the brake in period, BUT the brakes squeal A LOT. but not WHILE braking... cruising, i can hear the brakes squeal LOUD. and im not even touching the brakes. they came without cream to put on the brakes to lube them... could it be that, or is it just the brake in period? after i brake them in will this squeal disappear or should i put that cream/lube stuff on them.

other than that, they have really good initial bite and brake good. but the sounds of them is so annoying, and im embarrassed to drive my baby...

once again, they are stop-tech slotted rotors, front and back, with axxis pads.

#1: bend that crappy metal sheild back away from the rotor and rid yourself of the noise

#2: yes, go get some moly lube and lube between the pad and shim, and between the shim and caliper. noise will go away. belive it or not, that shim is a noise dampner.

#1 will do

#2 will also do. didn't think the lube stuff was that important since it didn't come in the kit...

damn stop-tech..

UPDATE:

so the other day i bent the hell out of those 2 metal shields behind the brakes in the front with a long socket wrench and some force. haha didn't even need to remove my rims or lift the car!

no more rubbing noise and even better,, the squealing that annoyed me so much before... is gone also! kick ****!
