Default Computer Won't Pass Inspection

I have a 98 Honda Civic hatchback DX. I am trying to pass it through inspection but it says that the OBD is not ready. I have not disconnected the battery or had any work done on the car. I even spent an afternoon driving it 50+ miles in the city and on the highway and it still wouldn't pass inspection because of the computer. Any ideas?

Its called a readiness check. You have to drive the car a certain way to get the ECU to self check all its systems. Call the dealer, see if they can give you drive cycle information for your car, or have them do it before you get it re-smogged.

we've actually already tried the drive cycle instructions and it still didn't pass. Any other ideas? What's resmogging?

What reasons do they give for it not passing?

You need to check the fuses in the under hood fuse box.

It's the #47 7.5A Audio unit/clock/ECM fuse.

Does your stereo work?

Do you have any bare/loose wires in the stereo area?

Try resetting it (pull batt cables off 4 30 sec) then drive it 30-40 miles.

which ECU do you have?

here may be the reason...

OBD1 ECUs will never pass OBD2 emissions testing. Neither will JDM OBD2 ECUs.
