Default quick dashboard question

Just wanted to know if the car will still run if I remove the entire dashboard to do some work on it and behind it. I will probably have to drop the steering column to get the dash out, but if I reconnect the column back up, the car will still start up and run perfectly right? The only thing I see being a problem is no way to tell how fast you are going (not a problem with other traffic around and experience) and no control over the A/C. Am i correct? Thanks
Steve

yeah it'll run fine, but you need to hook ur cluster back up after getting the dash out.

I took out my cluster and some other dashboard components and the car ran without it.

Yes, the car will run without the cluster. If it's going to be a few days or more, I would try to install the cluster somehow just in case. Zip ties are your friend.

It'll run without a cluster no problem. I'm not sure if it will still clock mileage though.

It won't, which could be a problem if he puts enough miles on.

only a day out of the car max. BUT now the right side is stuck. I've taken out the radio, all 6 mounting bolts and still have to drop the steering wheel, but the left side feels loose like it will be no problem. The right side still is caught on something. Do I need to remove the airbag on the right? My Helms manual doesn't mention that at all. ANYONE?!?! I will be going back and forth to my car and this computer to see if any help has come. Thanks peeps

Judging by what I've seen when the passenger's airbag is out, yes, you will have to remove it. It lips over top of the dash.

It's in my living room now. There were two additional nuts holding down the right side for the airbag assembly. Thanks NOFX and everyone else.

That's why I told him to put the cluster back in, so he can see his speed and such if it was going to be a few days..

just remove the under dash harness and install all the switches, your turn signals dont work without the emergency button. This is for eg's anyways, not too sure about ek.s. and if you accidently, get your clock plug into the emergency light switch somehow and turn it on, your fuel pump turns on. weird...

Default FV-QR

So, OP, what exactly are you doing to the car that requires the dash out for so long anyway?

I wasn't saying that you were, I was just clarifying that, that was the reason I told him to plug it back in.

Well it's back in. I took it out for under a day to add some sound insulation to the firewall so I can hear my sound system better and less engine and road noise. All is well except for the SRS signal which I posted in another post. I will try resetting the SRS tomorrow and update that post. Thanks guys.
