Default OBD Questions = 93 obd0 b18a1 into a '00 obd2b civic dx. searched.

Ok so i know that this isnt your everyday run of the mill swap. 93 b18a1 into my obd2b ek. im doing it cuz the motor is cheap and my friend needs cash. i think i can keep my harness for the most part, but im worried about the dizzy, should i get a 94 b1 dizzy? and of course a obd2b-obd1 phearable ecu jumper harness. besides that does anybody have experience with an obd0 motor in an obd2b chassis? what are common problems?

You picked a wonderfully painful swap to do.

First of all a 1993 integra should be OBD1, not OBD0.

I'll search for a topic that has the pertinent info, but I'll post what i know first off the top of my head:

1. He will need to keep his 00 Civic engine harness

The 00 Civic harness is a 1-piece design that goes all the way from the engine, through the firewall, and directly into the ECU itself. The Integras all used a 2-piece design harness that stopped at the shock towers, so it cannot be used for any 96-00 civic swap. This will present some wiring challanges.

A. Distributor

Immediately you will notice that the 00 civic distributor has some completely different plugs on it than the B18 distributor. Only the 99-00 Civic (non Si) had it's own specific distributor plug, so there is no B series Integra distributor that you can swap out to make it be a bolt in, plug in swap. You can take the sensors and plugs out of the Civic distributor and swap them into the Integra distributor housing. I'm sure there's another way, but the way I've done it is by swapping sensors.

B. Alternator

Alternator plugs don't match up. Again like the distributor you can take the voltage regulator out of the 00 civic distributor and swap it into the OBD1 Integra alternator. It's very easy to do and takes an 8mm socket and a phillips head screw driver.

C. Injectors

Use the 00 injectors

D. IACV

The idle air control valves will have different plugs/wiring. You'll have to rewire the Integra IACV and use it.

Click Here and Find the OBD2B IACV rewire instructions

2. From there you will undoubtedly encounter some OBD2 related problems/issues if the car is to remain OBD2 emissions legal.

A. The Integra engine you're using lacks a key OBD2 sensor called a CKF sensor. You will need to do w wiring trickmat the ECU plugs/harness to trick the ECU into thinking the engine has he CKF sensor.

Click Here and Follow OBD2B Instructions

B. Oxygen sensor(s)

The location of the 00 civic o2 sensors is completely different than where they need to be for a B18A/B engine being ran OBD2.

The wires will need to be stretched/lengthened for both o2 sensors because on a 00 Dx they're in the manifold up front, but they'll need to be moved further away to be OBD2 B18 specific.

Primary needs to be moved to the lower section of the header

Secondary needs to be moved to the rear of an under car catalytic convertor, which brings me to...

C. Catalytic convertor

Can't reuse the civic DX one at all. you'll need either an aftermarket cat with an o2 bunge, or a 96-01 Integra LS/Gs/RS/ITR or even a 96-00 Civic EX or 99-00 Civic Si convertor.

D. ECU

This gets funner and funner.

You'll need to run an OBD2B to OBD2A jumper harness with a 96-98 Integra LS P75 ECU because the correct OBD2B 00-01 Integra ECU has an immobilizer crap in it.

Also what transmission you plan on running? I'd not use the 93 cable tranny, which means you'll need to source a hydro B tranny, clutch, etc. also you'll need 94-up Integra intermediate shaft and axles if you run a hydro tranny.

Sorry if this is incomplete - it's off the top of my head.

Wow thank you so much! I'm impressed. As for tranny, I will be looking into a cheap b series hydro. After memorizing everything you just wrote, I've gotta say I'm having second thoughts about this swap. It is going into my car and the car is my daily driver. I guess I'm gonna have to do a lot more research before I can get it done. As for emissions and legality? I'm not worried about it so much as making it work. Thank you again man ur my hero!

Ok so I'm gonna throw around some ideas and you guys tell me what you think. I want to make this as pain-free as possible. If I can obtain an obd1 ecu from a non-vtec integra(p75?), and use an odb1 engine harness from an eg civic then it should be completely pnp for the obd1 b18a1? Right? Or am I missing something here???

Let's break it down simple:

What year/make/model is your car? It's not the same 00 DX is it?

To expand on that '92 - '95 civic harnesses are also a two piece design like the the integras. You must use a '96 - '00 Engine harness, no other harness will work.

yes, sorry to confuse you, its my swap, my friend has the engine, he sold it to me for cheap cuz he is strapped for cash, it is going into my 00 dx.

Ok thank you, i didnt know that.

So im picking up the motor in the beginning of november, after reading what b18c5-eh2 wrote a few more times, it makes more and more sense in my head. I have plenty of time to mess around with the engine while it is in my garage, so what i will probably do is with a little spare cash, buy an extra harness and misc. parts, and make it fit to the engine via the suggestions you gave me, and a lotta cutting/splicing/modifications. Then I guess I would have to acquire a conversion harness for my ecu to run the modded harness and engine. I think as i start to mess with the parts and see for myself what is what, i'll begin to figure it out. There are also some local shops that i know do swaps all the time, idk about this kind of swap, but im sure they can help. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out guys. I really appreciate it. give me a few months and you'll see this thread pop back up to update you on what i did.
