Default BIg car problem need help asap!!!

So I have a 92 LX four door that I just put a new z6 motor in it. I test drove the car before it was pulled and it was good. Put it in my car and now it starts but has no power to it at all. It has low acceleration and have been looking around to try and figure this out. I dont know where to start at really so if anyone has any advice please tell me

Does it feel like a stock LX motor? If soo than you need to wire up vtec and get a p28 ecu which is obd1 vtec or get your existing one chipped for vtec. Is it running on all four cylinders?

I was asking what car did the motor come from, mainly because if he got it out of a hatch it probably felt like it pulled harder because the hatch was lighter... just a thought..

And on what grounds is this based? I had a 94 4 door dx that was lighter than most hatch models. A couple hundred pounds isn't gonna give you a noticable difference in how hard an engine pulls.

To the OP: What ECU are you using?

if you put a k series in a hatch and put one in a 4 door...it will FEEL like it pulls harder in the hatch. and fyi...a couple hundred pounds WILL make a noticeable difference. why do people buy CF if it doesnt do anything?

and how the hell did you manage to make a 4 door lighter than a hatch? if you do the same thing to a hatch as you do to a sedan it will still be lighter...and j/w how do you know for a fact that it was lighter? did you put it on a bathroom scale?

for those that dont understand physics..... for every ten pounds you get rid of 1hp is gained.... foe example ... hold 50 bricks and start running.... then every three steps throw 10 bricks off......... as you loose the bricks youll run faster.............. another fine example is a pro street camaro my boss works on.... the car is capable of running 10.20's in the 1320 with an itty bitty 350ci engine....... the trick?? the car weighs 1800lbs WITH driver... power to weight ratio is something some people just don't get for some reason!!!

Funny run your car at the strip get your time, then take a couple hundred pounds out and run it again, you'll DEF see a noticable difference in how hard an engine pulls..

And like slo hatch said, how did you know ur car was lighter than most hatches?? you would've had to have gutted it in order for it to be lighter..

Heres my problem with your logic. The OP says the Z6 came out of a hatch, now assuming it wasn't swapped that means it came from an Si. Si hatches are heavy at 2270lbs heavier in fact than a DX sedan which weighs in at 2245lbs.

To the OP. What ECU are you using? and what engine harness? using an EX/Si engine harness in any '92 civic means you do not have to run ANY wires for vtec. Also, you didn't by any chance install a timing belt while the engine as out?

Edit. Just realized the OP doesn't state what type of vehicle the engine came from, but it still doesn't change my point, all 3 of the other vehicles it could have originally come from are heavier than a DX sedan.

correct me if im wrong but in slo_hatch's prev. post the curb weigh on the hatch was 2108lbs and its not always wise to assume!! permitting it was swapped then what??? just a point that has nothing to do with the op's question.... and what makes an si heavier anyway??? a sunroof/ power windows and locks.... abs... blah blah blah!!!

No hatch was 2108lbs. But I know where slo_hatch got his numbers from and from what I can tell consumer guide just averaged the curb weights of the various trim levels of hatchbacks for those years. No its not wise to assume, and I wouldn't really say I did. I could have just assumed it came from an Si hatch and not even mentioned the possibilty that it might not have.

Mostly the sunroof. Its far heavier than most people realize, probably weighing around 50lbs if you include the motor and everything else that goes with it. Si hatches didn't come with any power options except power mirrors which were standard, '92s didn't come with ABS either. Some '94s and '95s may have.
