well what kind of build>? u can run 6lbs of a stock d16 and get away with it.

if u really want something fun then get some low comp pistons h beam rods. get the block honed and or bored if it needs it.. get some arp head studs and the block is set u will ahve to machine for the rod clerance as well.

and then the stock head can take guite some boost .. but if u want to build it for cheap just get some titanium srping retainers and get a valve job done..

it depends on ur budget and what u want out of it.

stock sleeves are good for 400, and crank for 600. Just get h beam rods, and vitara pistons, and call it a day. You can make 200 to the wheels with just that easily. d series love boost, but its all in the tune. Dont push it till you get a good tune. I'm in the process of a turbo d series myself. 350 whp. sohc ftw

im pretty sure withe the vitaras your gonna need the fj r spec i beams.
others wise ull have like 7.8:1 cr
with the fj r sepcialy designed rods for the vitara pistons. ull have a 8.8:1 cr which is a lot better.

http://fjdistributors.com/prod...d=270

get those with the vitara pistons. .20 over for a clean surface. fj ssells a great bottom end kit.
vitara pistons and all gaskets, seals, waterpump and t belt. and bearings.

fjdistributors.com go there and look at the turbo bottom end kits. not the NA ones. for about 850 u can get a full bottom end kit. and then ull need machining.

at 5 lbs. your probably safe just running the stock block and everything with a good tune. do your compression test and make sure its all fairly good. an not waivering alot.
for 2900 you can prolly get a great kit with a good tune.

i can vouch for a turbo d stock, cause i ran that setup for a while and got boost happy and upped it.. thats the only reason why my setup blew

just get some arp head studs and an oem head gasket torque with arp specs and a good clutch thats it... well tune too, i ran chrome pro.. greddy kit 8 psi alot of peeps say you shouldnt but mine ran for 8 months till i got stupid... and ITS ALL IN THE TUNE.... if you wana buy my setup ill sell for 2500... thats with the kit and current tune. of course its built now...
