Just picked up an 83 cm250 custom !
Took a break from workin on the crx the other day and i stumbled across an 83 cm250 custom for sale.. 100 bucks. So i got it because my friggin honda weedwacker cost more than 100 bucks. My question is.. will a '73 honda 350cc motor fit in this frame with the same mounting locations? And where can i find aftermarket exhausts/throttle bodies etc..etc...
Yes i bought it saturday.. registered and insured it monday. Just finished the half tank it came with, today. And it cost me 6 bucks to fill it today with ultra, so your probably pretty damn close with the 75 mpg. Im not gonna swap the motor, but i have the 350 so i guess if something happens to this one i got a spare.. I just want to get a bigger carb and a nice exhaust on this 250. And it desperately needs a new clutch hahaha it cant handle the 12 hp it comes with. Anyone know any companies that make parts for this bike?

Any sort of performance modifications aren't worth it IMO. if you want better performance, due a thorough tune up: adjust valves, set timing (if it has points ignition), clean and adjust the carb(s?), tension and lube the chain. As for whether or not it needs a new clutch, more often than not clutch slippage is due to a misadjusted clutch cable. Look into that before tearing into the transmission. If it does in fact have a worn clutch, Ebay is your best bet, or if you're lucky a local motorcycle junkyard.

Yea i did a decent tune up on it.. oil, plugs, filters, took the airbox out so its an open filter. The clutch cable is adjusted properly and im sure of that. Ive been racing enduros and harescrambles since i was 9 and i have a damn good feel for the bike. not to sound like an *** lol.. But anyway i found a clutch kit for like 50 bucks on a few different websites, i think the company EBC makes it? Idk this is my first street bike, im used to dirtbikes and an 83 honda street bike is like impossible to find parts for.. No rush, but just want to see whats out there. Ill take some pics when i take the garbage out later haha i dont feel like getting up just yet....
When you took out the Air box did you have any issues?

I had a 1981 CM200T, I gave it to my exwife for a birthday present, it was her first bike. She has a bigger bike now, but she won't give the Twinstar back
They made these little twins for almost 40 years, they don't make a whole lot of power but they are very economical and reliable.
