Default Not sure where to put this. Honda Hobbit!

I picked up a 1978 PA50-II Hobbit at the beggining of summer for free with a title and key and all that. cleaned the carb and had a solid 27mph bike (it was made to go 30) I cruised around for about 2 weeks completely stock and then got a proma expansion chamber exhaust. Without rejetting the carb, the plug chop revealed chocolatey goodness. I'm now hitting 37mph, 40mph full tuck.

Next I lowered the handlebars and the headlight, and got a better seat. I think its finished, for now.

There are a few things janky about it, but it works, specially for something I have only $150 into.

Also in case you didn't know, Moped = MOtor PEDal.

This is one of the 4 mopeds that I own, this being the fastest. the other three are a Peugeot 103, Motobecane 50V, and Baretta 38. They are pretty awesome. Check out mopedarmy for even cooler peds

There was one on Ebay recently. I almost clicky powed on it, but it was starting at $495 and I'd have to have it shipped from Wisconsin, so I didn't.

Theres a guy right here in my hometown who has an '81 Express, but he wants like $650 for it. He's on the crackpipe. I don't see it going anywhere so I might get it eventually.

Very nice! Can't wait to restore my 78' Honda Hobbit. Just picked it up on Craigslist for $100.00. Had to take the drive pulley apart and re-weld it. It runs great, and has low miles. It is missing the horn cover, tank rails, foot rests, the seat is in very bad condition, and the pedals are strange. Someone welded them and they stick out at funny angles. I'm putting a longer PA50 seat on it, horn guard, and luggage rack for the longer seat to rest upon.

Bumping this thread. What should I expect to pay for a near-mint '81 Hobbit?

unfortunately this Hobbit is now a heap of garbage It was int the back to the truck I was in on the way home from california from spring break. the driver fell asleep and we rolled, causing enough damage to have almost nothing salvageable from it. for an 81, expect a lot for one in this condition (near mint). maybe 2k for one that is perfectly mint with a complete restoration like mine. if it doesnt run, 400 tops. Honda's made one of the best mopeds there is to buy besides a Derbi.

That sucks to hear. I'm still looking for one of these on craigslist every once in awhile. They're kind of hard to find in good shape. That Proma exhaust looked really nice. I wonder if it would work on an Express. Mine is about to fall off the bike.

I did end up getting an Express II (orange) that I ride around every once in awhile.

I think price can vary widely depending on who you get it from and if it needs to be reablilitated. I wouldn't pay more than $500
