Default dumb questions need answered too!

i have a 92 eg with a b18b1 and i need to order some misc. stuff from the local auto parts store,like a valve cover gasket,throttle body gasket,etc.

what year and vechille do i tell them i have for motor parts?

i attached a pic of my motor,its is obd2 iteslf,right? i mean the motor.

and for the valve cover do i use like permatex or some other sealent with the gaskett? or

do install it "dry"?

also the motor is stamper H M does that mean its jdm?or do usdm have them as well? or all b18b's usdm?

thanks for the help in advance!!!!!!

for motor parts tell them the type of car the motor came out of. for example..a civic wth a ls swap out of an integra and you want a valve cover gasket...tell them an acura integra and whatever year your motor is...if it is obd2...just say like 98. simple enough.

and i never put anything on the valve cover gasket...of course i have never got a new one. i just put it back in when i take it out. lol

no...
b18a=90-93 integra ls, rs
b17a?=90-93 integra gsr
b18b1=94-01 integra ls, rs
b18c1=94-01 integra gsr
b18c5=97=01 integra type-r

i believe that is all of the codes for the integras...

what do your ecu plugs look like? are there 3 completely square or are they 3 rectangle plugs...on tiny one, one in the middle, and one long one? if it is completly square it is an obd2, if it is 3 different plug sizes its obd1.

it doesn't really matter if the motor is obd1 or obd2 as long as it is a b18b1 he can just tell them he needs a valve cover gasket and throttle body gasket for a 1994 acura integra LS.

OK so i just checked the car itself is obd1,but i only has 1 grey plug on the dizzy?
and also notice the unhooked sensor on the intake manifold?
does this mean the motor itself was originally obd2 and wired into the obd1 harness?
so when i order sensor's and stuff do i order for them later year integra's obd2?

how did you check the car itself? if it is before 1996 it is obd1...and you can swap an obd2 motor in and leave some plugs unhooked...just make sure they arent supposed to be hooked up. like my hatch has an extra plug for an o2 sensor but i bought a subharness that had another one...so my old one is just chillin. lol

there should be a number stamped on the head, it'll be like 96 or 99 something like that on the little graphics on the head, it'll be the best way to find out if the motor is obd1 or obd2, if you can get a straight pic shot of the head like looking at straight to the header if you were in front of it, I could tell you what the yr is.

no prob man. obd2 started in 1996...it is obd2a and they have obd2b...i think it started in 2000 (not real sure about that one). but just tell them 96 up and you should be good to go. i dont really know what the difference is between obd2a and obd2b. lol

lol on to the next dilema,,
when a b18 swap is done to a eg hatch like mine <92> does it use the stock eg shifter?
reason i ask is i want to order some energy suspenion bushings,but want to make sure im ordering the right parts first,or do they swap the shifter from the teg?or is the stock civic shifter retained?
