i got this cheap turbo kit came with everything front mount turbo wastegate blow off etc..... got all oil lines hook uped got fmu got missing link got a p28 with gsr map single cam vtec supertech valve train with a wild cam.... and for some reason i can only get the car to boost 3 pounds... the waiste gate has no adjustment settings... i am runninng open waistegate it is loud and i was told its not supposed to be loud.... so i cant figure it out but bad waist gate? can someone give me any ideas?
if wastegate is loud, then it isn't allowing you to build boost.. possibly leaky wastegate. run the car and see if exhaust is coming out the wastegate at idle. otherwise check for any other possible boost leaks
Mostly all wastegates need the fire ring to work, chances are yours is missing. that will make the WG always leak, and either build boost slowly or not at all. It should blow zero exhaust until you reach full boost (where it will get loud). You could also have a 3 or 5lb spring in the WG. Get a MBC and play with it.
The other part that might be missing - fuel. You DO have an FMU or larger injectors+necessary basemap, right?? It seems like neither, since you don't list an FMU, but list a GSR map. Why would you use a GSR map on a SOHC???

Cheap kits usually lead to poor quality products which = Failures... Wastegates are adjusted by spring pressure or boost contoller, they dont have a **** on them
Sounds like to me u need to take the wastegate off and apart... get a good quality wastegate. Unless by open wastegate you mean it dont have a spring in it
And of course open wastegate will be loud, its another exhaust pipe for the motor basically.
I'd highly recommend revising your tuning effort

ok look i did not put this motor together,,,,,, so i am getting the after math of all this ****,,,,, i only have built all motor b-series so i am new to the hole boost ****..... so i dont know i did figure since everyone said about the fire ring....... well my **** dont have it cuz there is a gap where the valve in the wastegate on the bottom there is a gap when its closed so i guess i am missing........ something...... and when i mention the fmu and the missing link for this turbo kit and its a computer i had in my hatcb..... so it throws the most fuel for the ecus i have
Make sure not to throw too much fuel tho... dont wanna flush the cyl walls or hurt the future of the bearings.
The reason ppl are bashing your missing link setup is b/c its ancient on turbo setups now. Reason being its not a proper way to go out, drive down the road and try to tune the car by. I know in n/a its not that big of a deal and some ppl are near perfect with it, good tuning software is kinda like insurance for your turbo setup and motor

1. Cheap parts fail which is more than likely your problem.
2. You need to have a proper tune not a basemap or a all motor tune. Your lucky you haven't hit over 3lbs otherwise chance is your would have heard some awful noises.
3. Get rid of the missing link and get a quality 3bar
4. Research, Study, Research, Study

ok well i fxed the racegate problem it is now boosting 10 pounds wich it to much forme.... ineed a manuel boost controller.... so any ideas where i can get one for cheap... yes cheap i am on a budged thianks
In my personal opinion the wastegate is the singel most important part of a turbo system period. Most people that do these junk yard kits put that $50 xspower gate on their car and they're complete garbage. Get yourself a nice tial 38mm or something of similar quality. You shouldn't be running a gsr map, even a boosted gsr w/stock map will need significant tuning. You need a z6 stock map and then tune it from there. Turbo is a wonderful thing if it's done right and cutting corners will have consequences (your car will never run correctly). Good luck and do a bit of personal reading and you'll be golden.

My xspower I got for 1/5th of a Tial holds 3psi just as rock-steady as 15psi, and I have datalogs to prove that, not just a cheap gauge. Its all about wastegate PLACEMENT on the manifold. Expensive manifolds usually have some though put into that, cheap logs or cast POS's do no.
