turbo as a daily driver?
i gots a b16 in my civic dx coupe and i want to go turbo, i was wondering if i could go turbo while keeping it as my daily driver? what turbo would i get?
first search, search a lot, then when your done, search some more, there is a lot of great info in the archives, not to answer your question in the most simple way:
yes but its not for the faint of heart. Turbo size depends on budget and HP goal.

There are a lot of us who turbo our daily drivers. I personally ran my stock block GSR with an SLS Shorty and STC GT3255b at 10.5psi making 315whp for 2 years without issue.
What are your power goals? What is your budget? What do you use the car for?
Answer a few of these questions in detail and we can help you out.

I hate to criticize your post, but 10psi isn't really the concern. Power created and fuel used are the limiting factors here more than anything...

I drive a turboed y8 at 11psi - 240whp daily driven 350miles a week. It's been turboed for 33k and the clutch is just starting to slip.
It's all in the tune. Mine was tuned on Crome by Slow Motion here in Ohio,

The more you know before you head into this project the better off you will be. While I still had my NA build I was researching everything I could about turbo charging a Honda. I also was able to hand pick all my parts based on my goals once I knew what they were, and how I wanted the car to respond. There is a wealth of information out there so start studying. Good luck!

If I could do it all over again I would have studied the game for a few years instead of making a few stupid decisions...
If you aren't 100% sure you know what you want then don't do it. There is always something newer and better. Sometimes cheaper. Don't eliminate anything, there are pros and cons to it all and its up to you to see where you fit.
Some people drive a 700hp car daily and don't see a problem because of their driving skills and drive train. Other people drive a 350hp B16 and bitch about loosing traction "all day every day".
It comes down to you and what you put in it.

i thinking about 250-350 hp goal first. my budget is like 2,000. i was thinking of just hand picking my parts. like yall said i should read up and stuff and thats what ill do. but my motor is stock i would love to leave it like that but idk if thats a good idea. ah boosteeays. but thanks guys.
Definetly do all your reading before jumping into it. But as far as turboing your daily driver goes, like somebody already mentioned, it is all in the tune. Make sure your motor is healthy (compression and leak down test) if using the stock block. Many people are making over 300hp with the stock block. I personally built my bottom end with forged pistons and rods, just for the added security. For goals of 350hp a t3/t4 turbo should be good, but do some research on the proper trims for your goals. There is a lot of stuff out there, so take your time piecing things together. http://www.tunertoys.com/categ...ck=50
