engine whine
I had the timing belt, water pump, tensioner replaced because the engine had 100,000 mi. I heard a whine that had not been there before and questioned the mechanic.. The mechanic said the whine was there because he set the timing belt tight and that it would loosen up, break-in, in a short time. 10,000 mi. have gone by and it's still there. Comments please.

I've seen this happen to a few people before, I'm going to guess you've got an H23 for F22, tell him to loosen it up some and that should fix the problem

I just did pretty much the same to my lude and I took it back to my mechanic too, and he said the same thing. B/c the belt will loosen up some, so that muthaf***a is tight!! But yea, don't worry,, just enjoy the sound!

Mine whined for about 10-15k before the whine went away. The belt only lasted about 80k, but that's with a Crower valve train, which will put a lot more stress on the belt. And, I never adjusted it, with a manual tensioner. Got to keep up on that
. You'll be fine.
