Default Recognizing Lean Burn in '97 HX w/5-spd?

'97 Civic HX w/5-spd.

How do I keep it in lean burn the maximum amount of time?
What conditions make it go into/out of lean burn?

Someone said that non-US versions had an indicator for lean burn but I haven't found how to hook up to that circuit.

Comments?

I can only guess that the HX's wideband primary 02 sensor has something to do with what your are asking about.

keep the rpm's low for best economy, the shift light is designed for that.

you can also get an aftermarket air/fuel gauge and wire it in, I'm not sure which wire it is but you can tap into it directly at the ecu.
