my input shaft or something got screwy in my s40 transmission (its stuck in neutral but the shifter is free flowing and no its not the linkage its inside the tranny )

i got an s40 tranny with 50k on it for $400 and doing the swap tomorrow.. my question is how much will it cost for labor to rebuild the s40 on average? i have the synchros, and bearings, i was planning on having it done soon anyway, just wanna know what im looking at for a cost.

1 more thing, im thinking of going with a bigger final drive on my street driven d16, thinking about a 4.5 instead of the 4.058, will it make my rpm range while cruising a nuisance?

dude you cant get a straight answer on this question because it varies from shop tp shop...it cost me 1300 to have my YS! tranny with a cusco final drive but according to everyone i got one hell of a deal....all i can say is its over a grand

 

a complete rebuilt transmission S40 with B00 case with new synchros, bearing and seals to OEM specs from Gearspeed is about 700 maximum.
Why do all the work when it will costs less to get one done from the honda transmission specialists. They ship internationally as well.

take it out of the shipping box and ready to install.

don't know why people will pay more than 150 for a used transmission.

 

Damn i thought i was getting burned at 650. Guess not. makes me feel better.

 

i got the bearings and synchros, and i JUST put new seals in it when i threw in the lsd

so im looking at around $500 for the labor give or take? sounds fair enough.
