http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com by far has the cheapest prices. I'd buy any oem parts available here from them.

In case you're not already aware of this, there are two possible sizes of pistons and rings depending on the block (and one oversize if it's bored/honed .25mm+). Dl the service manual from http://www.spoonhonda.com. You need to find out which ones you need for which cylinders for your block.

What kind of cylinder wall prep is necessary when fitting new pistons and rings in a FRM cylinder?

So can I just run a flexhone through the cylinder or what? I've read the "official" procedure for damaged cylinders but mine look good (through a borescope at least)

No, read the service manual. You must use a rigid hone. If the motor is high-mileage it'd be a good idea to hone. Usually just honing puts your piston-wall clearance out of spec though, so overbore .25mm and use the oversize pistons Honda sells.

Be careful, there aren't many shops that can hone FRM properly.Your best bet would be to send the block to either Don Flores or Golden Eagle as they can do it correctly. It'll end up about $150 more because of shipping, but considering how important the hone is, it'd be well worth it.

Well that sucks, I was hoping to do this in-car but buying a sunnen portable hone is not exactly in the budget for this project

Do it once, do it right. In the long run how significant is an extra $150 v. it running well and lasting.

Reality dictates that the piston swap is done in-car or not at all. I don't have time or space to drop the block and wait for it to get back.

then drop them in there and wait to break something so you can do it over again.

If the cross-hatch is still visible, just drop them in there.

most likely if I have the shop bore it out, It might be out of spec, My is the BBBB so the type is just fit perfectly. I talk to Hmotor and they say that only the BBBA can use it if the wall get bore out. If I bore about .25 or .5 mm then I have to use aftermarket pistons and oversize rings.

Does it sound correct????

If the cylinder bore codes for your block is BBBB, you need to use four B pistons if you don't plan on overboring.

The max you can overbore is .25mm. Honda makes oversize pistons and rings that are .25mm+. Hmotorsonline sells both standard and oversize Type-S pistons.

so... if the cylinders meet the factory taper spec of .002 I shouldn't do anything to them before I drop in new rings? Forgive the idiot questions but these FRM cylinders are a new game to me.

Really you should overbore and/or hone when you install new pistons and rings. The helms says so (look at the first few lines of the honing section). If the bores are geometrically within spec (roundness and taper), and the cylinders aren't glazed and you can see the cross-hatch, go ahead.
