What is chipping exactly?
I know its a question that will probably get me flammed but I've been looking around and surprisingly havent found what I'm looking for.I know you can get ecu's chipped for vtec so that the engine will run vtec but what I'm wondering about is chipping for turbo tuning....I've been told that you have to chip an ecu before you use a turbo which as far as I know is so that more fuel is injected into the engine correct?Does chipping it make it so that the ecu can be hooked up to a computer and then can be programmed or does the chip you install already have the program you need for more fuel or what?I'm so confused
chipping.. adding a chip to your ecu therefore you get can get it tuned or you can use a chip that already have programs on it..

The best way to explain chipping....you are taking your ECU and making it capable of accepting an aftermarket chip. That chip allows you to "burn" a new program onto it and then install the chip in your ECU. This is very important when making changes to the engine. Most software programs allow you to change all the fuel values, timing values, rev limits, and VTEC engagement for starters.
