Anything wrong with just running a MUGEN Fan switch and a stock Thermo
Well got my motor installed and my fan switch took a dump on me so I had to pu in my mugen fan switch. I am still runing the stock thermo is that bad somebody told me it was bad and on kings sight it was said not to do it any reason why this is bad or not?

I didn't think there was such a thing as too cool on a B series motor
FWIW, I know a few track guys who run with no thermostat. I wonder what the reprocussions of this would be (other than taking longer to get the engine to normal operating temperatures).

If Yoshi has no problems I believe it will be fine then. I still have not installed my fan switch because I will try to find a Mugen thermo in Taiwan.

How does your setup run on the freeway?
never moves...local or freeway...altho "freeway" is a relative term in these parts
warm up time is fairly quick also...no problems at all so far

What rad. fluid are you using? Mixture?
overheating....
overheating WTF how is that possible?

The thermostat allows the coolant OUT of the engine to cool off, so when it is exchanged with the coolant IN the engine, that coolant can absorb the heat. With no thermostat, the coolant can only transfer its heat into the air (via the radiator) as it briefly passes through the radiator. This usually isn't enough and over time, ALL the coolant will be at or above the boiling point.
If you run the switch and not the thermostat as the thermostat allows the engine to reach operating temp its already past the turn-on temp of the switch. So what happens is that the fans will always be running and put lots of wear and tear on them. Plus more current draw if idling for long periods could cause charging problems and our alternators aren't exactly beasts at charging to begin with trust I work at Acura. Nothing really wrong though just run fan switch and thermostat together and it will just kee the operating temp lower than stock and prolong life in theory and the fans will still cycle as like normal just normal will be like 160-175F compared to 190-200F as is normally the case. HTH
can't you use a switch to manually turn on/off the fan?... i was planning to run without the thermostat and just get an aluminum radiator and add some redline water wetter... my car is not to be driven on the streets and will only see a 1/4 of the track... just wanted to know ur thoughts too?

honda premixed...forgot if which number 1 or 2
That would be 2.

yep,
Either use a lower temp thermo or go back to stock
I don't think you will have problems with your new rad.

Integratom is right. So I would put in a lower temp t-stat or you could mess things up. But don't just throw in any old t-stat. Get the Mugen one (or another brand that has the same rated operating temps as the Mugen) so that it will be properly matched with the Mugen fan switch. You want to maintain the same operating "cycle" as stock...lets say 10-15*F...but just in a lower temp range. I've had the Mugen t-stat and fan switch since April and its been working great. Running 80/20 mixture of water/Prestone Extended Life Coolant (orange stuff). Here is some add'l info from PO.com http://www.preludeonline.com/showthr...ht=mugen+tstat
Btw...nice board
