Weird rattling noise.

1997 Honda civic LX
I have that noise between 1400-1500 rpm, and 2800-3100.
Only at those certain RPM's it causes a vibration.

It seems to be coming from that shield thing infont of the engine.
What do you guys think ?

(btw, the engine in the vid is rev'ed to 2800-2900 rpm)

 

mines wasn't as bad as yours but i change my tranny fluid and it seems to help. just a bit.

 

I dont think i have tranny problems..
i mean i have alotta water when i stop from the AC (most cars do that i think).

U think i should change the tranny fluid??

also does ur rattle the same way as mine ?

 

Had the same thing happen to me (95 civic lx) it was the heat shield next to my cat went to the local muff shop fix it for free

 

I couldn't tell from the video, but those exhaust manifolds crack all the time inbetween #2 and #3. If you shine a light where the O2 sensor goes through the heat shield, you might see the crack right obove the O2 sensor.

 

Sounds like your cat is shot, sounds like a muffler bearing.

Your cat is right under the manifold. With the car off tap it with a hammer if

it rattles it's shot.

 

How is you're car now? My civic is doing the same from 2-3k rpms but it comes and goes.
