Default scratching tranny noise

I have this weird scratching noise which seems to be coming from my tranny. When I first start driving it in the morning, it's hardly noticable but after a long day of driving it to school and work, the scratching noise is very loud. It sounds like something got caught on my exhaust and is dragging on the street but there is nothing there. The noise comes after 3500 rpm and stays. It is in all gears including neutral. The noise is there when I rev it with the clutch pressed or depressed. First thing I did was check the fluid and found it to be empty so I thought, easy fix, but the noise was still there. Next I figure I need to change my tranny fluid or that it might be low. I was lazy and just did a top off of the fluid and still the noise is there. There is a little bit of wheel play on the right and left front wheel. I can jiggle it with my hand at 2oclock and 8oclock. From searching, it sounds like input shaft bearing problem. Can someone tell me if my symptoms fit this? thanks.

Did you check to make sure it's not your heat shield rattling?

It turns out one of the hangers came off my exhaust which caused it to hit the exhaust shield. While driving, it sounded like it was coming from passenger front but when I finally got someone to rev it to 3.5k rpm while I checked for noises from outside the car, I found the problem. I'm glad I didn't go ahead and take my tranny apart first.

whoever told you that you needed to replace your tranny for a bad throw out bearing was a retard. Dont go back to them.
