since i dont have enough money im going to a d15b jdm swap from jdm engine depot. i have a 92 CX and was wondering if i can purchase just a long block and drop it ight in with my ECU/axels and tranny and such. Thanks a bunch :D

 

you need a p28 ecu the rest of your stuff will work

 

tranny and axles and shock tower harness yes. main harness and ecu no. also your MAP sensor might become a problem. it will work but will not be much faster due to the longgearing in the cx trans.

 

jus get a k20 swap.lol..

id go with a dx or si tranny... d15b with a CX tranny.... not unless u want the long gear tranny...

 

- P08 or P28 ECU (P08 preferably due to it being the right ECU for the engine and it using a single wire O2 sensor like the CX. P28 is a close second though)
- Ideally a '92 - '95 EX/Si engine harness, this will leave you with essentially no wiring except for depining one wire for the O2 sensor and pining it into a single wire plug shell. Or use the exisiting harness and add the vtec wiring to it.
- axles are exactly the same
- Tranny is geared horribly long, but its perfectly compatible, try to get an engine and transmission combo if you can afford it at all, you'll thank yourself later.

 

I juss did the same thing i replaced my non vtec d15 and got the jdm d15b ... But my car is a DX...... I dropped it in my self but my freind did the wireing.... i used the same ECU from my old non vtec motor and used the same tranny but my friend wired it up to get the vtec working and it runs great..... but i do want a better clutch but everything else is running great.....

Let me guess, RPM activated switch? Vtec will sound like its working, the high lift cam profile will engage, however the ECU wont know to change the fuel and timing maps to compensate for the high lift cam profile. In other words vtec doesn't really work.
