I am experiencing a bogging issue before 3800rpm. I can't use more than 15% of the throttle otherwise it bogs and even begins to slow down. From past experience, it REALLY feels like the timing is off, but it's not according to the crank marks. I went to get the car smogged and the timing was spot on and it passed with flying colors.

Now this is what I have done to try to fix this:

New Fuel Filter
New Distributor/Coil
New Plugs

The only other thing that I imagine it could be is a bad fuel pump. It primes fine and everything, but I have no way of measuring the pressure.

Any help greatly appreciated. I was selling this car and this issue came up

 

I'm dealing with a similiar problem, I'm replacing my distributor and the ecu could also be to blame

 

i had that same problem tryed fixing it with all the ways you guys did and then one day i changed my header got a new o2 sensor and it went away

 

If this is an SI the crank will line up but the cam gear will not line up with the mark on the cover. When you put the timing belt on they are to be lined up. But once to tention the belt, the marks no longer line up on the marks.
The crank is at TDC and the cam gear is one tooth clockwise off of the mark.

Does the car idle ok?

Yup. It idles fine. The car is actually an 86 CRX Si, but I figure I would get a faster reply here and I'm always in here anyways ( I also have an 88 Si).

May not make any difference now, but I got a new dizzy in mine and it's working now

 

If the MAP sensor voltage going back to the computer is very very near 1 volt then the timing belt should be perfect, clamp off the return fuel hose going back to the tank, this is called dead head pressure, if your problem clears up then you have a fuel delivery problem, otherwise you should get it oscilloscoped during a test drive to see if its a fuel or ignition problem.
