Default K24 vs B20B

Hey i am looking to swap my engine in spring. I was looking at getting the B20B. I was going to look into buying the engine or buying a crv from mpi. I found a 2002 crv the body is crap but the engine is mint. So I was wondering. Is it alot harder to swap in a B20B compared to a K24? Thanks

b20 would good if on a budget but if u have cash flow go with the k24. b20 is the easier swap to do compared to the k24.

you have to factor in what you want your car to do go only in a straight line or go around turns a 2.4 liter is a big big motor you gonna get a lot of under steer with that i would say just build the b20 with the money your gonna save

i thought the whole weight issue with the k motors was put to bed already?

as in it isnt enough to cause any concern.

also i was under the impression that the size of your motor had no impact on understeer.

regardless you can tune the steering to neutral anyway.

once again the only two questions that matter when it comes to motor selection are

1. what are you going to do with your car
2. how fast can you afford to go

if you are like 99% of the people here you arent going to race your car. taking it to the strip once a year isnt racing btw. 99% of the people here just want to have something cool to show their friends. in that case it really doesnt matter what is best. it only matters what your friends think is best, and what is one step up from what they all have.

The K24 is NOT a lot more work and is NOT a lot (if any) heaver then the B20.

It was been time and time again, the K20 is roughly 4 lbs lighter then the B18C5 so take that into consideration. And what car is this going into? The only down side I see to the K24 is the block is too tall, it will not fit under a EF hood.

On the weight issue, I do not like the way that the K series moves the weight to the nose of the car. A B series weight sits further back in the engine bay. A K maybe lighter and more powerful but I do not like the changes in vehicle dynamics.

I would have to respectfully disagree with that.. b20 uses bolt in mounts. that alone is a lot less drama, on top of the fact you don't need custom axles and the wiring is a lot less drama.

k-series is only for people who either A) have $8k-$9k to throw at the car or B) a veteran honda swapper that knows the car inside and out, and still has atleast $5k to do the job, and a lot of patience..

for newb friendliness, i have to say the b20 is the way to go. the k is hands down a better engine though, and worth every penny...

If they ever sort that out though.

There is a lot of good info and opinions in where but it all boils down to:

I'm not sure but I don't think the sir hood will clear, but I could be wrong (I've never seen a EF with a K24). Check out K20a.org

You will find better answers there .
