Apparently I am an idiot and say "the most stupid thing [people] have ever heard." So to educate myself does anyone have an opinion if this would work or not. Why, why not? Any reliability issues for a DD? Emissions? Cause I was told the cr means nothing.

You'll be ok. If you run into any detonation you can run a colder plug or retard the timing if you have an obd1 distributor.
