Removing old gaskets
Im putting an oil pan onto a friends 98 lude. What do you guys usually use to clean the old gasket(hondabond) off off the block. Or if your reusing a pan, to clean off the material on the pan ?

Piece of plexiglass or other hard plastic with a good edge. The problem with power tools is if the engine is in the car it's harder to clean up all the debris scattered everywhere.
what power tools do u use ? My whole thing is that im not sure what i can and cant do to the sealing surface ? Like is a wire brush ok or not ? Or steel wool or something idk ?
yes gasket remover works on hondabond and other silicone gasket makers...let it soak for 5 min, scrape and repeat
you can use a wire brush...just brush till the paint comes off and you see bare metal. then use a thin layer of hondabond between the oil pan and the rubber gasket. simple as that
