yes help please
if it helps, i got oil and tranny fluid changed today
but i doubt that sound has anything to do with that
i also notice when i turn my car on i get a MAINTENANCE REQUIRED flash a few times,
does that always happen
something i also JUST noticed recently. it stops after a few seconds and only happens when i turn it on

Maintenace required comes on like an alarm clock to remind you to not be a douche and pay attention to your car. The shut off button is located infront of your right knee when sitting in your car. You have to hold it in when you start the car until the light goes out.
Does the sound only increase with speed? Sounds to me like it may be a throw out bearing.
If it only increases with speed, I would check your wheel bearings.

If it gets louder as the car accelerates then I would look at wheel bearings possibly.
If it gets louder as the engine revs go up, then it would be engine related.

yes, but what I meant was if it were a wheel bearing the sound consistently gets louder the faster you go. Where as say it where the timing belt, even though your car was accelerating the engine's speed would change due to shifting gears; thus the whine would also change.

These are two different things. You engine does not continue to rev up at the same rate as you go faster.
Easiest way to tell is to get close to redline in first. If you don't hear it, it's probably speed related. You can also speed up and throw in the clutch. If the sound goes away then it's motor/tranny related.
