Default Take out the cat converter?

We dont have smog testing in Florida. Should I get a muffler shop to take out the catalytic converter and put piping in place? What should they charge? Thanks.

buy a test pipe and do it yourself. We don't have smog out here in az and I just bought a test pipe from performance exhaust off of ebay for $40 with an o2 boss welded on. It came with new bolts and new gaskets also, and took 15 minutes to change out

yes.,..get a test pipe...we have to smog here in california, but i still have a test pipe. The car basically just sounds better and performs better. A shop will charge you an arm and aleg to make a custom pipe for your car. ebay is the key

Arent test pipes crazy loud? This is a daily driver, 40 miles a day down the highway. And I really dont want to give up my Tanabe. High flows are out. Its 100 bucks for restriction I dont have to have. Im still leaning to the piping and removal of the cat.

Save up $100 and do it the right way. Your Tanabe was how much exactly, and how much did it give you? I don't see the point of acting like you're broke and $100 is an impossiblity. If $100 is an impossibility, I don't see where 2whp is gonna make a difference since you probably can't afford going to a track.

I got my test pipe from SMSP. If your car is OBD I then take your existing cat and punch out the cat material. Free test pipe for you!

100 bucks isn't an impossibility what so ever. I could buy it right now, but isn't it just obvious that a high flow cat will still restrict the exhaust gases, less than the stock cat, but still restrictive. You know more than me no doubt, but I'm just sayin why have restriction when you could have none?

And I have an OBD 2. Can I still remove the cat material. That would be ideal ( I think).

i beleive high flow cats perform just as well as test pipes --- i too have a test pipe...and it almost gives me a guilty conscience. i think you should buy a hi flo cat honestly....keep it legal. oh well, do what you will.

i got my tp from testpipes.com --- 40 shipped.

If you remove the cat material on an OBD2 setup you will get error codes, thats why you should seriously consider the high flow cat. Here are some figures courtesy of Team-Integra.net:

Stock NSX 242.1 cfm
Stock Type R 223.6 cfm
Stock Integra 218.3 cfm

Catco (metal core) 2.25" 223.8 cfm

Random Tech 2.25" 297.1 cfm

Catco (std. core) 2.25" 338.2 cfm

I have an obdII and just had a o2 boss welded on the test pipe. waalaa, no check engine light. As far as saying you want to not buy a test pipe because it is loud and you want just custom piping, there is no difference between the two. Both are straight pipes except a muffler shop will bend you over as far as the price is concerned.
