LS/Vtec Possibly Seized up
ok i have another post regarding something else but i needed a fresh thread for this topic. this is the story so far.
basically, i have an oil pan gasket leak, car was low on oil, gray/blue smoke cam from hood, turned car off, tried to start, noticed one cam pulley WAS NOT spinning and the timing belt was off of the pulley.
ok now, i dont know if the belt came off and i just need to do a timing job, or the pulley stopped turning so the timing belt came off, leading me into a whole other direction with fixing the problem.
my question is, is it possible for one camshaft to be seized? i have never had a seized motor so this is new to me, i do all of my own work so i will not be confused by the responses i get back.
should i remove the dead cam shaft(intake mani side)? or shall i do a timing job and hook everything up right and fire it up? there is oil in the car so it WAS NOT bone dry.
this is confusing but all help is appreciated.

Personally I would first get a new belt and put it back in time and go from there. I would take a wrench and barely rotate the suspect cam. Not fully around or anything just enough to see if it is free.
at this point it would not hurt to pull the head off and check everything out... and change the timing belt while you're at it... because if you just put a belt back on and there's something else wrong you'll damage more things and end up spending more time and money fixing it
