Hey, my friend is thinking about looking at this Integra GSR with 232,000 miles on it. What do you guys think of this?

i dunno i mean i bought my 94 gsr from a dad who was the origanal owner and had all maitanence records the car also had 211k when i bought it but the guy who had it never modded it or anyhting and i paid 4500 cash here in CA maybe a little pricey but whateves anywyas i think you should find out the way he drove it, my guess is since he modded it, it was probably drive pretty hard at one point to test things. pop the hood and visually check everything out, have him not be afreaid to ask questions and for records.

for the price it's not a bad buy. for $1700 you can have an HMO engine with more compression and loads fewer miles. when you figure that someone would likely give $600-700 for that engine as it sits. you're only looking at a total for $3900 for that GSR with an HMO swap. if i were buying it i would pull that engine the second a found a buyer, either that or do a rebuild once it goes. figure out if you want to go HMO or rebuild sometime in the near future. for that price it's a good deal though.
HOLY crap, I mean you can never exactly judge by the pictures, and I kinda am a sucker for black tegs, but thats such a good price!!! Man If I were where you are I would buy it out from under you. People do that around here anyway, you have to know what you're getting into without taking a few days to do research because someone would scoop a deal up like that around here within a half hour of the car being posted, I kid you not. Its happened to me so many times before, and for a car like that at $4500 too!
I wouldn't be scared of the miles, I've had 2 GSR's with well over 200k miles on them in my garage, as well as another with almost 200k and a civic with well over 200k and they all ran GREAT!!! The only reason though is because they were VERY well cared for in the past. I wouldn't worry about it.
And GSR's as far as I'm concerned do burn a bit of oil. My GSR right now with 130,000 as well as yet another GSR I had with 148,000 on it burned a bit, but they have full compression, I hear its a pretty common problem with those engines... I think it might be leaky valve guide seals because none of these cars smoke when you are driving.
And this is speaking over the course of having 6 tegs, 4 of which were immaculate, pass through my garage, and 3 of those immaculate ones being GSR's... The one LS that happened to be a beautiful well maintained car too and had 248,000 miles didn't burn ANY oil... weird huh?

it's the guides and the seals. my guides were shot at 163k when i did a rebuild. also the factory nok seals are outdated with the new viton stuff. $30 gets you a set of fel pro viton valve seals that are 10x better than the factory.
