There is a reason S2 made "Pro" series VT when they came out with their "Pro" cams. Answers your question. S2/RM/Jun/Toda all build great camshafts. 98% of other members will suggest cheaper companies that will also produce #'s. I just don't prefer them(my own personal opinion).

Doesn't everybody?

you are right about the pro series valve train...but on sk2 web site , in tech help..they do say you can use pro1s and get away with those springs, are stage 3 tuner??? so i order to use pro2s ,i would have to upgrade to be safe about it...thanks for your input clean rice, also what cam would you run.

I would say get the cam and valvetrain from the same company due to the pressure of the valvetrain it can handle from the cams they make so ex skunk2 with skunk2

Yes you are correct, I forgot about that. I have never been a fan of the S2 1st gen springs though, it seems there was allot of threads about those actually breaking and dropping valves. Ugly.

As far as cam choice, where do you want to make your power? What is the motor going to be used for? Intake and header are = __________? What are you tuning with?

forget the name. find out how much spring pressure the cams require at the RPM you operate. call skunk and ask what should be used on the seat and open. find those pressures in your favorite brand and you're good to go.

trying to make mid- top end power.. got on sk2 web. info on the springs..they generate 50lbs of closed seat pressure, handle 525in or 13.3mm of lift.. witch require tit. retainers..

pro2 specs,, the spec are within my means
int. 270/ 12.8mm lift
exh. 276/ 12.0mm lift ..make power from 1500-9400..

these are the sk2 stage3 ,i also have been looking at ,and know i can run with my set-up. looking at the specs, alil bigger cam, with more rpm
int.272/12.8mm
exh 280/ 11.9mm ..power band 1500-9800..

once agins thanks for all the info

Advretised #'s alone are not going to determine wether your valvetrain is sufficient enough. Also, bigger is not always better.

ofcorse, bigger is not always better. i know theres a big differents in the two cams. im just tryin to get the most out of my set-up. having a pretty nice bottom end. that can handle some hp, i dont want to hold it back.... As far as the valve train, its new, and hate to replace it, but if its holding me up from making good numbers. i will.....thanks for the help...

If you don't want to sell it, put some Pro1's/Blox C or S2S2's in it and call it a day. Any of those will make good #'s.

s2s2
pro1
JUNIII
TodaB
Buddy Club 4

This would be the order I would list up for your set-up. I don't know enough details about Crower or Rocket to list.

Some missing Items, your header and exhaust plans?
Intake manifold?
What are you tuning with?

ya sorry... i have skunk2 intake manifold. dc 4-2-1 header(i think i might get rid of, looking into 4-1) greedy cat back exhaust...the engine will be tuned with hondata s200. is there a reason why everybody is picking sk2 stage 2 cams, over the stage 3...when pro1s are more aggessive then both??..... thanks agin for all the input. h-t

First trash the header and get a Hytech or SMSP Tri-Y header.
Second get a full 2-1/2" exhaust to go with the header.
Why is everyone mentioning the S2S2 cam, its a good over all cam.
Both IntegraType-R and clean rice are very knowledgable.

Will Pro2's increase your power over your current set-up, yes. Well after you get a better header and larger exhaust.
Without larger displacement, 2.0ltr+ and a head that can flow at least 300cfm you would be under utilizing the lift and duration of the PRO2 cams.
Keep us up to date on your progress and post the dyno results.
