Default Freeplay in rotation of tire

Alright, I just got back from the workshop and the marble rattling sound when turning left is still present near my right wheel. I just replaced the C.V joint on that end and the noise is still there. There is no noise when turning right. This is so disappointing. On the hoist, my mech experienced a free play in both front wheels when they are rotated by hand in either direction. It moves about an inch in circumference followed by a "klog" sound from the gearbox when it stops by resistance. I have a clutch type LSD. Is the LSD shot?

Is this suppose to be normal in the case of an open differential(stock) gearbox?

I am all in, it is the Wheel Bearing.

I'm not certain I understand the noise you are trying to explain...

When was the last time you replaced the clutches in your lsd?

There is some amount of play that you feel if you rotate a wheel back and forth. An inch of arc at the tire doesnt sound unreasonable to me.

check the wheel bearing.

Wheel bearings were inspected by my mech and all seems fine. No noise or vibration. There is this clunking sound from the tranny when the wheels stop on turning them back and forth. LSD clutches have never been replaced before.

The matter just got worse. Now there is this vibration sound from the right front wheel area when I release the accelerator at 60mph. When I clutch in, the noise goes away. Forgot to add: I replaced my right CV joint with an aftermarket one thinking of solving this noise initially. This joint is slightly larger than the orignal one. My mech says its ok when he installed it. Can this be the vibration related problem at 60mph deceleration?

Clutch type LSD's can make a lot of noise when they are working properly, but mostlynoticable at high steering angles & lower speeds.

As for a noise when you tip-out of the throttle in gear @ 60mph, not so normal. If I had to guess, I would say carrier bearing on the counter/mainshaft or diff.

Does the noise change when you let off @60mph, in gear and apply brake?

The noise remains the same when I brake and let off. Infact it only comes on when I let off the gas. Is it critical to have the exact sized CV joint when I replace it, so as to maintain the dynamic balance of the shaft when rotating? I am narrowing it down to only the ball joints and the CV joint because the vibration noise problem was not there before I got them replaced.

ahh, the way I understood it was you replaced them trying to fix the noise. Well if it popped up with the new CV then there is a great chance that is where its coming from. It's not the size so much that matters, it's balance and mechanical operation, I would say yours is lacking one of those.

You just had the outer joint replaced? Perhaps bad part, perhaps dude effed it up, perhaps the inner is toast as well.

When my clutch pack lsd went out I replaced axles a half dozen times, replaced fluid a half dozen times and went over the car over and over again before I finally decided to dive into the clutch pack maintenance.

That's a good point, I had forgotten about the original noise he complained about. The straight line noise upon deccelration @ 60mph started happening after the CV was replaced, but that would mean two different problems.

I don't think the LSD will act up so coincidently after I replace the ball joints and right outer joint. It could be like sackdz said, the problem comes from what was replaced.
