Default 2000 Si - B16 - Losing oil

I'm going through oil like no one's biz... I'm adding a quart every 2-3 weeks...

I do not see any smoke out the tail pipe, not in cold mornings and not when I get on the gas. The bottom of the motor is dry, so there isn't a main seal leak.

I've had a few "hobbiest" car guys tell me my valve stem seals are leaking.

I had a local shop tell me its the oil rings of the pistons because when he held his hand over my oil cap opening (while engine was running) he said there was a ton of blow by.

And I have another guy (20+ yr veteran mechanic) tell me it's a vacuum problem with oil leaking into my intake somewhere... basis for thinking this was because I don't have any smoke out the rear end.

3 completely different theories... what do you fellow owners think? Anyone with a similar experience?

My car is sick

What kind of numbers should I expect if everything was kosher? And what are the numbers if the oil rings took a dump?

I was under the impression the piston rings are what held the compression, not the oil rings. Maybe I'm wrong...

i hear dif. numbers between healthy motors depending on the test you do but wat u want to look for is all 4 numbers are close to each other. try to find a cyclinder or 2 that the numbers are a bit lower than the others and that will show u.

Well, I didn't have time to do an oil change when I got home from work... but I snapped a quick picture of what my TB looks like.

This is the only spot in my entire bay that has caked oil like this...

I gots the oils in my intakes! Boo boo's. Would bad oil rings cause this? Maybe something else? Sorry... I am inept with anything engine related.

Cakeage!

pcv might be stuck change that first but i dont think that would cause that much oil loss but see the lil tube going into the intake at the bottom of the pic? pull that off and see if theres oil there if there is replace you pcv
