If there is a big hole at the rear of the trans then you probably blew a diff pin. The early b tranies are known for that.

88-91 CRX trannys will doe the same.

JDM B16 trannys as well as 90-91 LS trannys also have the weak diff pin.

The diff pin, also called a cross pin holds the pinion gears in place. It is quite common

Notice the $900 LSD sitting on top! (YIKES!)

The pins I mentioned above were not hardened, the pinion gears would CHEW thru the pin until it failed. When it fails it like dropping a grenade into the tranny.

Bad pin chewed thru

Good pin hardened from the factory

Then the replacement "GOLDEN" diff pin and how it holds the gears in place.

ALL POWER is transmitted thru that pin.

they started using them in 1992 on everything.

I've never tried to buy a replacement because normally the case is TRASHED when the diff explodes.

Can't buy the pin separate...from Honda at least.

I'm sure you could match something up that would work!

I just built a MR2 turbo transmission and decided to open up the stock open diff...WOW those trannies are built tough. There are 4 spider gear pins, instead of one, and they are actually serviceable

Why do you need a pin? You have a JUNK tranny right now.
