y1 trans blew up??
ok i got some questions about my non lsd y1 transmission... the other weekend i was racing my car at the track and my trans blew up right off the line, i didnt jack the car up or anything yet cause im so busy with work and my baby so idk from what i can see the one shift linkages that bolts to the trans was off and theres a big whole in the case. any one have ideas of what happend?? im asking this is because if its a commen probblem for b series transmissions... so any info on weeknesses of b series transmissions would be good
what exactly is the diff pin i have no idea about transmissions??
so you think if i had a lsd in the trans would this still happen??
also what would cause this to break??
thanks this would really help me out

The diff pin, also called a cross pin holds the pinion gears in place. It is quite common

Notice the $900 LSD sitting on top! (YIKES!)
The pins I mentioned above were not hardened, the pinion gears would CHEW thru the pin until it failed. When it fails it like dropping a grenade into the tranny.
Bad pin chewed thru

Good pin hardened from the factory

Then the replacement "GOLDEN" diff pin and how it holds the gears in place.

ALL POWER is transmitted thru that pin.

Can't buy the pin separate...from Honda at least.
I'm sure you could match something up that would work!
I just built a MR2 turbo transmission and decided to open up the stock open diff...WOW those trannies are built tough. There are 4 spider gear pins, instead of one, and they are actually serviceable

Why do you need a pin? You have a JUNK tranny right now.
