What does your ignition timing have anything to do with your belt cover? You are talking about loosening the bolts on your distributer and adjusting your ignition timing that way right?

correct but on my d16y8 on the cover of the t belt there is the v thing that you use to align or point the gun at while adjusting the ignition timing. on my gsr I see nothing like it. so therefore I can't adjust my timing.

If you're looking down at the crank pulley, while standing infront of the car, it should be slightly towards you, on the plastic cover.

If not just remove the spark plug from cylinder 1 and stick a long screwdriver in and slowly bring the piston up until there is no more movement and then line up the cam gear
