differences between '95 and '96 civic
hello im new here. im looking for my first car but i don't have a very large budget because i am a student. i am considering a used honda civic coupe. i know that the '95 model is a 5th gen and the '96 is a 6th gen, but what exactly is the difference between the two? would it be worth a little more money to buy a 6th gen civic over a 1995 model? are there any known problems with those civics? i want my first car to be reliable, cheap and satisfying. any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thx.
Well they look different, engine wise the 95 are OBD1 and 96+ OBD2. The 96-98 look a little different from the 99-00. here is a pic of a 96
Here is a pic of my 5th gen
I coulnt find a pic of a stock 5th gen coupe but the HB looks the same from the front anyway

sounds like you just want a commuter not a fixed up honda. dif years dont matter its all about body style. its when you get into dif models that they change a little bit w/dif options. if you want to go with power your gonna need to look into a swap or turbo, cause lets face it, stock hondas are slow.
right now im not too concerned about power because i can't afford a swap or turbo yet, but it will be something that i will consider down the road. right now reliability is my main concern because i don't want my car breaking down frequently. i want to get the canadian si coupe model (EX in the US). i'd really like to have features like a/c and power windows & locks. right now im torn between the '95 and '96 model. they both look good IMO. maybe i should go with the '96 because it is a more recent generation. someone mentioned that the early 6th gen civics looks a bit different from the later 6th gens. how so?
99-00 front end (bumper fenders hood headlights) looks a bit more sleek and aggressive compare to a 96-98. 99-00 taillights are red and clear no amber. rear bumper and lip are a tad bit different as well. the 99-00 front bumper have 3 holes/cutouts and the 96-98 has one big one. the 99-00 has electronically controlled interior features like fan, ac. think 96-98 more manual? not sure on that one

ok im swaying towards a '96 6th gen now. are there any problems that i should know about before i try to find one? i was also wondering if the rear seats could fit people comfortably. i don't plan on having many people in my back seats but there will be times where i will be driving with friends in the car. the seats aren't THAT small right?
does the ex coupe come with a/c, power windows and doors, remote entry, ABS, and body coloured trim as standard equiptment?
